Treat Rosacea for your Skin

By Alistair Nole

Acne rosacea is a chronic and at times progressive facial disorder that afflicts 45 million people all over the world. Symptoms from this include permanent redness and swelling, very sensitive skin, and bloodshot eyes. This skin condition was known to only affect people of north-western European descent, and has been nicknamed the curse of the Celts by some Irish folks.

Rosacea can do similar things as melasma, and create darker patches on the face. Rosacea is different because the marks are more red. It's natural for people's faces to turn red from time to time. Natural causes include a spike in adrenaline levels. It can also be caused by dilation of the arteries when you eat something really spicy. Redness from rosacea is much more severe than these natural reasons.

Doctors rule out bacterial infection as a cause for rosacea. Blushing occurs with some people more than others, and genetic attributes contribute to this. Alcohol can also be a factor in facial redness, and rosacea is exacerbated by it's consumption. The age of 30 is a common time for rosacea to be diagnosed by a dermatologist.

Prominent blood vessels on the face, red cheeks and pimples and other bumps, and puffy skin in the nose area are common symptoms of rosacea.

Laser treatments are often used to treat many types of skin conditions, including rosacea. Dermatologists usually prescribe a topical rosacea treatment to begin with. There are antibiotic skin creams available that are effective for treating rosacea, and minocin and tetracycline are common ingredients in these. This works for both light and moderate cases of rosacea. Dermatologists will prescribe more heavy duty oral antibiotics when the disorder is very highly advanced.

Putting on more makeup is usually the first thing rosacea sufferers do to cover their face. Remember that if you do this, you may only worsen the problem. Use makeup sparingly, and only when absolutely necessary like when you need to attend an important social gathering. In regular situations, there is no need for makeup. Whenever rosacea symptoms appear, mild cleaners are often recommended. If you keep your facial skin clean this will lessen the likelihood that rosacea will spread. Natural cleansers are the obvious choice, free of major chemicals and unnatural compounds. Skin can be damaged by some more serious kinds of elements that are contained in some solutions.

The symptoms from rosacea can happen to anyone, no matter their background and many find their quality of life is not as good as it was before. Patients can have specific treatments that are for their exact type of rosacea affliction designed for them by their dermatologist. Using products that are natural in origin help a lot for reducing rosacea symptoms. However, like any medical condition, it's always best to consult the specialists. Patients with rosacea, or other skin conditions such as melasma can benefit from the experience of a well known and respected dermatologist and their expert treatment methods to enrich patient's lives.
